Day 69 & 70 - Birthday!

Alarm was set, did my jog and came home to shower.  While I was out I missed my birthday phone call from my parents but they sang to Leo. They called back later on to sing to me.  I love this tradition.  ๐Ÿ˜

Leo was so good. He patiently waited for everyone to get up and have their breakfast before he was allowed to open his presents.

When we were all finally ready we opened our cards and gifts.   We were both very spoilt this year.  I got a new netball, some NB baby blue and grey running shoes which I love, some running headphones, some fluffy socks, bottles of wine/bubbles, chocolates, t-shirt, flowers, cake, sanctuary stuff in a lovely jar, a hedgehug which is so cute and a couple of other bits and pieces.

When the boys turn 11 they are allowed to get a phone.   Leo was really happy to finally have his.

After the present opening, Leo had a visit from one of his friends.  I thought he would be really shy and not say very much but they actually spent a long time having a good catch up.

He had another surprise a bit later when a parcel arrived at the door containing some caterpillars.   We've done this before and we love it.  It's amazing to watch the process of change and to then release them as beautiful butterflies. ๐Ÿ˜Š

I frantically put together all the food for a giant picnic and we eventually left the house to go to Mum and Dad's yard.  When we arrived Mum and Dad wanted to show us around so that we could see all the work that they have been doing recently.  They have done so much!  Clearing of weeds, removing fencing and general maintenance.    We had a nice, hot, walk around the fields and even saw a baby deer.

Next up was picnic! Dad had set up the tables quite far apart but we pulled them together and made sure we all stayed away.  It was a feast!  We sang Happy Birthday to me and Leo and then tucked in.๐Ÿ˜‹

We "chilled" in the scorching sun for a bit and the boys played around.  It was really nice and relaxing and felt relatively normal.

We left around half 2 and got home in time for me to get ready and set up for my Zoom afternoon tea with Sophie, Kathy and Saskia.  Rob helped me to set up the laptop in the garden and Sophie delivered the food. I had to put the laptop in a box to stop the glare from the sun, so it looks like I'm just talking to a box. Probably something I would do anyway.๐Ÿ˜ƒ

We talked for ages and it was nice to just have a giggle about stupid stuff.  Thank you so much girlies.๐Ÿฅฐ

I also had an extra guest join me.

After we said our goodbyes we had a very quick turn around before we Facetime Mum and Dad for our games night.  I cleared up the kitchen and got the board game ready.  We made it just in time.  It actually worked out really well and Oscar won!  He did so well.

We only played one round and then the boys all ran off and me and Rob sat chatting to Mum and Dad for a bit.

It was then time for the big clear up and bed.  What a fab day! I was too tired/tipsy to do any blogging and I ended up going to bed quite late.  I had a brilliant birthday and Leo seemed happy too.๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŽ‚

Lucy messaged me on my birthday with some amazing news about Shauna.  They have been looking at residential colleges for her as she will be turning 18 this September and it will be a great opportunity for her to grow and try to become a little more independent.   They had picked 2 colleges but had to wait for the local authority panel to look into and approve the funding.  Well today they received the news that funding had been authorised and that Shauna can go to college!  I am so happy for all of them.  Obviously I think they're all a little shocked at the moment and it's going to take a while for it to sink in, but I really think this will be a positive life changing experience for all of them.  They were pretty much expecting to have to fight for a place for months, but were given the go ahead after the first panel.  Things will become clearer over the coming months and I think she will be potentially starting in September.  I'm already excited about going to visit her to see how well she is doing and having a nose around.๐Ÿ˜‰

Oscar wasn't himself all day.  He was rather quiet up the yard and then when we got home too.  He did well playing the game but at bed time he just couldn't settle.  He kept saying he was having bad dreams but he didn't know what about and was on and off the toilet.  Eventually at 2am he came in our bed and by 5am I had moved to his bed but I just couldn't go back off to sleep.

I still managed to get up and go out for my jog though.  Thought it might help to wake me up.

I came back to do Joe Wicks and then showered after getting everyone fed, making sure they had brushed their teeth before they run off to do their gaming.

I have no idea where the day went.  I felt like I was just fighting fires all day.  I sort of just pottered about doing various chores but the house didn't look any better by the end of the day!  I probably just walked around looking at it all thinking I'll do that tomorrow, I'll do that tomorrow, I'll do that tomorrow.๐Ÿ˜‚

After dinner I went round to Kelly with the pug house for some drinkies in her garden.  She's recently purchased her new home and they are doing so much work to it.  The garden is huge and it's going to be amazing once it is finished.  Then when lockdown has finished they are pretty much knocking down the house and starting again.  She has great taste and ideas so I have no doubt that it will be amazing.

I sat in her garden drinking and chatting, watching her kids play on the trampoline, listening to some background music, stroking a pug with my foot.  It was so relaxing.  We talked and talked for hours and eventually I left at nearly 11pm.  The plan was to walk home but every direction I went it was pitch black lanes and I actually didn't fancy it, plus I was freezing!  I called Rob and he kindly offered to come and pick me up. Thank you! x

When I got home the kids were all in bed, the kitchen cleared and the dishwasher on!  So nice to come home to that.๐Ÿ˜Š

Rob was still working but I went straight to bed and off to the Land of Nod and thankfully I didn't hear Oscar get up and sleep walk downstairs at 12:30am.  Not sure what is up with him, I've tried to have a little chat but nothing out of the ordinary was said.  I'm keeping an eye on him.๐Ÿ™„

So far behind with the blog and I'm sure I've forgotten lots of things but I'm very grateful for the lovely weather and being able to socialise more.  It is definitely something that I need to feel more normal.  I know what you're thinking. ๐Ÿคจ

Looking forward to doing more socialising and for the boys to see their friends.

I've learnt that the days are ticking by very quickly and soon we'll be getting back to new normals and I wouldn't have done half the things I wanted to do.  Then again if they never get done, does it even matter. ๐Ÿคท‍♀️

Anyone else feeling a bit nervous about coming out of our sheltered little worlds?  Life is a bit more simple in lockdown, yes there are tons of things that I want to do but can't but there are also lots of things that I'm quite happy that we can't do.  I've mentioned these over the past couple of months in my not looking forward bit at the end of my blog posts.  At least it's just happening slowly I suppose.  First real change for us is Leo going back to school on Monday and he will also be attending his piano lesson at the teachers house as she has set up 2 pianos at opposite ends of the room and she has spent a great deal of time planning and working out how to make it as safe as possible.  She's done an amazing job.๐Ÿ‘

Right, will do more blogging tomorrow and hopefully get a bit more caught up.  I want to do a post about my 40th last year and my trip to Cardiff with Saskia to see Spice Girls.  Will see how much I can get done.
