Olympic Torch

Tuesday 21st of May was hot.  I put Ellis in shorts which is always nice.

Most of the day was rather routine.  I did the food shopping, went to Leo's gym class, Saskia came over for a visit and I did the usual pottering about trying to stay on top of some of the carnage the kids create each day!

After picking Ellis up I shoved all the kids in the car and zoomed to Auntie Lucy's house.  We were going to see the Olympic torch!  I was a bit worried about traffic so we left nice and early and didn't come across any delays.

We were so early that we spent some time sat in Lucy's garden.

Rob was coming from work and couldn't get away as early as he planned so decided it would be best if he went home and then cycled to Lucy's house.  We waited and waited for him to arrive but then thought it would be a good idea to go and get a spot along the side of the road with the huge crowd of people.

Rob arrived at exactly the same time as us!  Perfect timing.

The side of the road was busy but not crazy.  The kids got to the front but Oscar was left stuck in the buggy unable to see anything apart from peoples legs.

We took a few pictures to remember the occasion.

A few coaches and police went by but nothing really exciting.

I spotted a gap on the other side of the road, so went on over with Oscar and took pictures of the guys on the other side.

Then Lucy and the kids came over too.  We tried to get a group picture but it's very tricky to get everyone looking in the same direction, at the same time.

So we gave up.

All of the children were really well behaved and very patient.  They had no idea what was going on really but I think they had a good time.

Then the men decided that they should be with us. It was a perfect spot. In the shade, not too crowded and right on the road!

After a long wait, the man carrying the torch finally went past.  I had to hand the camera to Rob as I was holding Oscar back, and the boys all waved and cheered.  It was good fun.  I put all the videos together in one so it's about 2 1/2 minutes long.

Lucy was the only one to get a decent picture of the man, on her mobile phone!

We went straight back to Lucy's to chill out, drink, eat, play etc.  Then Rob took Ellis home on the bike.  I didn't think it was a good idea as Ellis was really tired but he managed okay.

I eventually got home, after being stuck in some traffic, bathed Leo and Oscar and got them to bed by 7:30pm.

Rob and Ellis took a while to get home.  Ellis was hungry so he ate, then showered with Daddy before finally going to bed at 8:30am.

I'm really glad that we made the effort to go down.  We had a lovely time at Lucy's house and the atmosphere was great and left us all feeling rather happy.
