Fish Pedicure

Everyone was so excited about going on holiday!

I finished packing and then we all got in the car to pick up Nanny and Grandad who were coming on holiday with us for the first time.  Last year Rob and I realised that it would be nice to have some extra hands and eyes around.

We arrived at Mum and Dad's by 9:30am and I got all the boys out so they could go to the toilet, have a snack etc and Rob and Dad put some more bikes on the roof.

I finished giving Oscar his milk and we set off at 10am on the dot.

It didn't take too long to get there and the boys were pretty good.

We pulled into the park and then you have to wait for a check-in desk to come free.  A number comes up on a board and you drive to the corresponding window.  On the way to our bay we heard a huge crunch!  I thought we had driven into a low post, or rail on the front bumper.  It was only when Rob lowered the suspension and looked up through the sun roof that I realised that the bikes on top had hit the over hang of the check-in desks!  Oh no!  All of Rob's hard work to get all the bikes sorted out, and we might not be able to use them!

We reversed out and briefly checked them before grabbing our keys before parking in the car park and walking to the main plaza.

You aren't allowed in your villas until 3pm so the idea is to get there early, have lunch and go swimming.  Which is exactly what we did.

We ate our packed lunch in the bowling centre, as that was the only tables free, then went straight into the swimming pool.

The changing rooms were heaving! Mum and Dad got a room first and then it took us ages to find somewhere and then of course it's chaos!  We managed it eventually and we went to the toddler pool first so that the boys could get used to it all again.  They got on with it quickly and even Oscar was going down the little slides, not through choice mind you.

Mum and Dad went to have a look around and when they got back we all went around the lazy river, which wasn't so lazy.  We went in the outdoor pool too and the kids play around on a shelf in the water.  I took the opportunity to get Mum on the rapids.  She did it straight away and it was so much fun!  We had such a laugh!  Mum felt like she was constantly drowning and was being battered black and blue as you are pushed around by the current.  She came out the other end shaking but did say she would do it again.

I then went on again with Dad, which was hilarious!  It was great to spend some time with him just having some fun. He was so funny too!  He would go down a slide, and at the bottom his feet would whoosh up in the air and he would tip right up.  I couldn't stop laughing.  Good times.

We carried on having fun, enjoying the wave machines and stuff and then Rob and I got to have some time on our own.  It felt very alien and we kept stopping to just take in the moment of it just being the 2 of us doing something other than going out for a meal in the evening.  We did the rapids and went down some other slides and just generally had a laugh.

We all got out in time to walk to the villa in the rain.

The men went to get the cars and when they got back we unpacked as quickly as we could and then got ready to go for some food.  We went to an Amercian bar, and they did a kids buffet which worked really well.

Also at the bar was a play area for the boys so they wore themselves out even more.  I thought this would be a great idea and was hoping they would sleep through.  Leo fell asleep on the walk back to the villa.  Not the greatest idea as it would have been better for him to see what bed he was in etc.

We put all the boys to bed in the same room for the first time, and just hoped for the best.

It didn't work well at all.  Ellis didn't like the light off, so he kept waking Oscar up.  Leo was zonked and I just hoped it stayed that way.

The rest of us played the Qi board game we had brought along and went to bed not too late.

Shortly after getting into bed, Oscar woke up, then again, every hour until 2am, when he decided he didn't want to go back to bed at all!  I had no idea what to do with him.  He wouldn't settle in bed with us and didn't want any milk.  I managed to get him down at 4am!  I had hardly any sleep at all and I knew I was going to feel a bit rough the next day.

Day 2

Rob got up and did the early shift, the boys were up at 6:30am! Mum and Dad stayed in bed a while longer and then we were all up for brekkie before getting out on our bikes!  It was so exciting.

We all did really well.  There was a killer of a hill to start the ride off but once we had walked up that it was actually quite a pleasant ride around the site, down a big hill to the lake.

We locked the bikes up and went for a little walk, stopping in the park for a bit.

Oscar sleeping! Surprise!

We had some time before our first booked event, a fish pedicure for Mum and I, so the boys decided to go out on the pedalo.  They grabbed their life jackets and cups of tea and off they went for 30 minutes.

Mum I relaxed, drinking our hot drinks, watching Oscar snooze and a boy feeding some fish that were jumping out of the water.

Once they were finished we went to the Sports Bar for lunch.

We still had lots of time before Mum and I had our appointment.  I got my iPad out and worked out that I could easily amend all of our booked activities.  I quickly amended our Fish Pedicure so that we could do it straight away.  This meant leaving the men to clear up from lunch, and entertain the boys for 45 minutes or so.

We entered the spa and we were shown through the building to a waiting room where we had to fill out a form about any skin problems, allergies etc.  We didn't have to wait long before we were called in.

We were sat up on these big black boxes, that had a drawer, with the tank of fish in, under them.  The lady cleaned your feet, pulled back the cover and told you to take a deep breath and to put your feet straight in and to just keep them in there.  Mum went first and what followed, was hilarious!  I've increased the brightness on the videos as they were so dark.

We soon settled down to enjoying it, laughing our heads off and just generally having good Mother/Daughter time together.

We both agreed that we would do it again next time, well maybe.

We caught up with the boys who were playing some golf.

We then decided to go back to the villa as Mum and Dad needed to get ready to go out for their meal that we had booked in.

We cycled back a slightly different route and found out that we had gone a very, very long way round to the lake!  Well, at least we got to have a good look around.

When we got back we fed the ducks, fed the boys, bathed them and tried to do a normal bed time routine.

The boys went to bed fine and I just kept my fingers crossed that the busy day would help them to sleep through the night.

We chilled out for a little bit while Mum and Dad were out and then I got an early night, fingers crossed.

  1. Ok, I love the videos of your vacation but I have to say you mother had me laughing so hard I nearly wet myself (with the fish therapy!!) What a different, cool experience. I can't believe how mature the boys are getting!
