Easter Sunday

We had a lovely, packed, tiring day today.  It started with the boys finding their eggs that the Easter Bunny had delivered.  Oh how I wish I hadn't started that lie off!  Santa is hard enough.

I then started to nag Rob to get up to take Ellis to his tennis lesson.  Rob didn't get home until 5am as he was busy working at Dad's warehouse on the computers so he was pretty tired.  I just managed to get him out of the door on time, only to receive a call a couple of minutes later saying that there wasn't any tennis today, oops!

He arrived back home with a cuppa and a bowl of cereal waiting.

I got everything ready for our day out and loaded it into the car.  We then woke Oscar up from his nap and gave him a bottle before putting the kids in the car.

The journey was only 40 minutes long but Oscar wasn't pleased about being strapped in so we had to have baby music on to try and keep him happy, which worked thankfully.

We arrived on time to meet Nanny and Grandad Rennolds, Auntie Katie and crew, but they weren't there yet and I really needed the toilet so we sent them a text to say we would meet inside.  Uncle Craig was supposed to come too but Charley wasn't very well so they didn't make it.

While we were waiting the boys watched a puppet show which was rubbish!

They all arrived not long after, and we set up a base and the kids ran off playing for a bit.  I had bought my Mum a birthday cake so when she popped off to get a coffee I tried to set the cake up and make sure everyone came to the table to sing.  It didn't go totally to plan as once Mum stepped back outside she tried to get Chloe on a land train ride and when Chloe was made to come off of it early, she kicked off!  Oh dear.  Anyway, we couldn't light the candles as it was just too windy but we did sing and all enjoyed a good slab of cake.  Happy birthday Mum. x

All the kiddies, except Chloe, then ran over to go on the land train.  Leo sat in quite happily which was a huge surprise but he got very upset when he suddenly realised he would be going on his own!  Rob jumped in and calm was restored.  It looked like quite a fun ride.

Chloe went on it once they came back and Ellis went on for a second time.  He loved it!

We all had lots of fun and the kids pretty much chose what we did.  One of the highlights was the sheep racing where you could put on a free bet and maybe win a prize.  Ellis went for sheep number 1 and won!  Very funny.

The cow shed was open this time so we went in to see the cows being milked.  It is quite a long walk so I offered to carry Leo and he said yes.  I scooped him up and he said "I love you Mummy!".  That's the first time he has said it to me, unprompted, and it was lush, a special moment.

The kids had one more little play in the indoor soft play and then we all packed up and went to a nearby pub for some dinner. Leo fell asleep and slept for 99% of the meal, Oscar sat in the high chair eating, drinking and being sociable, Ellis played on the iPad and then ate a huge meal and I found the whole thing reasonably relaxing compared to what it is usually like.  The main stress factor for me is Leo but I think he would be a lot better now with the iPad as amusement and it wouldn't matter if he didn't eat anything.

He did wake just before we were totally finished and he ate the last bits I had from the packed lunches and then went back in the car, home and bed after a story.  He was really good and I was expecting him to be rather upset, but I think he must have tired himself out today.  Rob is on the early shift tomorrow so if Leo wakes early, at least I don't have to for a change.
