It was Fancy Dress Friday for the Jo Wicks workout. Ellis' effort was apparently Harry Potter π€
My Mum said she wanted to Facetime us so that we could all do the workout at the same time. I wasn't sure it would work as thought the timing might be way off and it would get annoying but actually it was in sync and she kept us entertained with her constant dancing about. π
I'd asked the boys if we could just smash out their school work this morning so that we could do more interesting stuff (sorry teachers) in the afternoon, to which they happily agreed and did.
For breakfast Rob wanted one of Leo's pasties so I used the opportunity to cut it in half as we had to evaluate the end product for part of his lesson. I think the pastry needed to be rolled thinner with more filling in it but Rob said they tasted good π€· I presented the cut in half pasty to him with the obligatory blob of brown sauce and he said "Is that for presentation purposes?". Um, yes, totally that's why I did it πΆππ€
Just before lunch Leo asked to play another game of Scrabble. This kid is getting good fast! Must be his amazing teacher π
The boys all had lunch and then I got changed into my Brandon netball kit. Strange thing to do you may say but actually the idea was to do a few videos of me catching and passing and to then send them on to Emily in our netball club so that she could put them all together and make one funny film. Any opportunity to throw a netball around and I'm there, even if I have to wear a ridiculously short dress!
Obviously it took a lot of attempts to get anything half decent but we had fun doing it which is the main thing.
This is what we sent.
We tried to do something on the trampoline but it didn't quite work out. Ellis couldn't time his throw right, Oscar got hit in the face and I just look constipated π€£π€£ The first video was done by Oscar and the next one by Leo. They all got involved. ππ
Ellis wanted to do a slam dunk which took a couple of takes.
Obviously Oscar and Leo wanted to have a go too. I totally robbed Oscar of a second chance to score, which I feel bad about. π I might even wake him up to apologise and make it up to him tomorrow. π
We tried a slow motion throw video too.
At the end of term the boys have Enrichment. Which means they cook, sew, build a den or make popcorn on a fire sort of thing, so we agreed that the afternoon would be spent doing something like that. Oscar and Leo both wanted to make cakes π© Cooking twice in one week! π± Having lost a bit of weight recently I knew this would be torture for me. I used to literally make up cake mixture just to eat. Rob used to have to say to me that I was only allowed to use one egg and not two as a compromise of letting me eat it. π Anyway, suffice to say I used up a weeks quota of calories licking spoons, bowls, scrapers, bits that had spilled out, from the cases before they even made it to the oven, once cooked, then the icing, you get the gist. πͺπͺ
We didn't bother with quiet time, but they all helped clean up, put the school stuff away and did their chore. Then they were free! They had an hour to wait before screen time, mean Mummy, but they played in the garden or watched a bit of Netflix.
Phew, we made it through 2 weeks of home schooling and it went quite quickly. Who am I kidding! That's my second longest 2 weeks ever! π π
So I made a list of things to do over the Easter break. I'm going to try and continue with some sort of workout in the mornings, or I might attempt to go out running again, but we'll see on that one as I don't want to be too close to people π Also on the list was sort out the garage, get ready for next school term, watch End Game with Ellis, gaming with the boys, Tik Tok vids, disco night, Easter egg hunt, go to the local stream for a play and a few chores. I'm sure by the end of it I'll be looking forward to the structure and routine of the "school" day. ππ
I spent the evening chatting and having a couple of beers with Karen over Facetime. It was good to have a proper catch up about loads of stuff which made a nice change from talking about COVID and the restrictions around that. Obviously I blogged and I'm about to go to bed and it's half past midnight. No rush to get up today though π
Learnt - Videos take ages to do on the blog!
Not missing - Getting the kids out for school in the morning. They've been so much easier at home, and still getting ready for the same time! Leo doesn't like going to school though which makes it much harder.
Grateful - That I have so many options of things to do.
Until next time, stay safe, stay well, stay home, look out for each other and all that other good stuff.π
